How much does it cost to get an EPA 608 card?

Once you've passed one of the EPA exams, you can purchase an EPA 608 card of the type you've passed for $50 through our payment page.

Please note that if you do not have the certification on your profile, we will not be able to process your shipment, and your order will be refunded to you.

How many questions are on the EPA exam?

Here's the breakdown of each EPA 608 exam. You do have to answer 25 Core questions for each exam, and all the sections will be mixed together. You need a 70% total on any of these exams to pass.

Universal: 25 Core + 25 Type I + 25 Type II + 25 Type III = 100 questions.

Type 1: 25 Core + 25 Type I = 50 questions.

Type 2: 25 Core + 25 Type II = 50 questions.

Type 3: 25 Core + 25 Type III = 50 questions.

Is this the actual EPA 608 certificate?

Yes! We are an official EPA issuer, and earning the EPA 608 certificate with us will be earning the actual certification. You can see us on the EPA's list of official testers, approved November 2020: Section 608 Technician Certification Programs | US EPA.

Do I lose my certifications if I cancel my membership?

Nope! Cancelling your membership only locks you out of accessing the courses, but you can always log into your account in the app and view your earned certificates.

Where do I verify my EPA 608 certificate?

Please note that your EPA 608 certificate will not show up on another institution's website, or the EPA website. Each issuer is required to hold their own database of 608 certificates, so yours can be searched up in our database.

Why am I not verified?

It's very possible that you, your employer, or the supply house searched up your certificate number on the wrong website. Below are two common places that users mistakenly search on:

1) A website that looks like the official EPA website but isn't
2) A page on the official EPA website, but for a different certification (e.g. EPA Lead Certification)

Do I get automatically charged after the free trial?

Our 3 day trial is risk free, and we do not require credit card information for the trial, so you will not be automatically charged once it ends.

You will only be charged for a SkillCat membership if you choose a monthly or yearly plan, and submit payment information.

How do I subscribe?

You can subscribe one of two ways: The app or the website.

We also have two subscription types: Monthly for $10/mo, or Yearly for $96/yr

For the website: Please navigate to our payment plan page. There, you will be asked to log in to your account, then you can choose the monthly or yearly plan.

For the app: You should see a banner on the bottom of your app screen that says, "Your free trial has ended. Subscribe now to continue your training! You can tap on that banner to pull up a subscription menu from your App Store or Play Store. There, you can subscribe via Apple or Google, then hop back into your training!

How do I unsubscribe?

For Refunds - Please follow these steps to start the process

Would deleting my account automatically cancel my subscription?

No, deleting your account will not cancel your subscription. You will have to cancel your subscription prior to deleting your account. Please keep in mind, deleting you account would also erase all your progress and certifications permanently.

Which EPA certifications do you offer?

SkillCat offers all three EPA 608 certifications - Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3.

You can take these exams individually or as a whole under the EPA 608 Universal Exam.

Can I use notes on the EPA exam?

No. 
The EPA 608 Universal, Type 2, and Type 3 are proctored exams. Our proctoring software will record your face and screen when you take the exams. Therefore, using external help such as referring notes, taking someone’s help, or Googling answers is considered malpractice. Our EPA proctoring team will not validate your attempt in such cases, and you will not receive your certificate.

Type 1 is non-proctored.

Can I re-take the EPA exam?

Yes! 
SkillCat offers only 4 attempts with 4 hours between each attempt.

This time can be used to prepare for the exam better.

What’s my EPA code?

Your EPA Code is the same as the Certificate number. 
You can find it on the PDF version of your EPA certificate sent to you.

How can Employers verify my EPA certificate?

Once you receive your certificate, you can verify your certificate here! 
All you have to do is, put in your Certificate Number/Code and click Verify.

A verification link will also be sent to you in the same email you receive your certificate!

I did not receive my EPA ‘Type 1’ certificate

Since EPA Type 1 is a non-proctored exam, you can download the certificate yourself!
Follow the given steps:

1. Go to the course on the app

2. Click training

3. Scroll down to and click on "EPA 608 Type 1 Certificate".

4. Click on the download icon and you should be able to view and download your certificate from there!

I took the EPA Universal Exam - When Will I get my Certificate?

48 Hours
Once your EPA Universal, Type 2, Type 3 attempt is submitted, it will take the EPA team 48 hours to verify your attempt. You should receive an email informing you of your exam status from our proctor’s email katie@skillcatapp.com within this time frame.

It's been 48 hours, I still haven’t received my EPA certification

Follow the given steps:
Check your score. The minimum passing score is 70%. If you have scored below that, you can go ahead and retake the exam after 4 hours. 
Check your email. Check your inbox/spam for any emails from katie@skillcatapp.com
Attempt to download the certificate.
	To do this, 
		1. Go to the course on the app
		2. Click training
		3. Scroll down to "EPA Type Certificate". 
		4. View and download your certificate.

If none of the above steps work, contact us.

Question 20

I was removed from the EPA exam before I hit ‘Submit’

Here are the reasons why you could be facing this issue:

(a) You switched between screens. 
Exiting the questions screen after the exam has started is not allowed. Our proctoring software will detect such activity and immediately submit your exam.

(b) You have a bad internet connection. 
Sometimes weak/unstable internet connection causes such problems.

In any case, you can always retake your exam after 4 hours! 
If you scored above 70%, we recommend you wait for further communication from our EPA team.

I completed my EPA exam, but my attempt was rejected.

Your attempt can be rejected if [not limited to]:

Your face is not visible on the camera for more than one minute.
You are sitting in a badly lit area and your face is clearly visible
Your screen did not get recorded
There’s someone else in the room with you
We notice you are using external sources like notes, google, or someone’s help during the exam.

What are the proctoring guidelines for the EPA exam?

All instructions will be given to you before you start the exam. Here are a few guidelines to remember:

Always face the camera. We need to be able to see you the entire time. 
Don’t switch between screens. 
Sit upright and position yourself comfortably.
Make sure there’s good lighting.
Sit alone while taking the exam.
Put your mobile phone in do not disturb mode.
Make sure your phone screen doesn’t turn off. The exam will automatically submit in this case.
